New this week in the Rhino Room at iTunes:

Luna, The Best of Luna: After the dissolution of Galaxie 500, one of the greatest cult bands ever to emerge from Boston, Dean Wareham – who was directly responsible for the dissolution, having told bandmates Damon Krukowski and Naomi Yang that he was bailing on the band – dived headlong into another musical endeavor pretty much right off the bat. That new endeavor was called Luna, and this compilation serves as a 17-track summation of the time the band spent within the Warner Brothers family, featuring songs from Lunapark (1992), Bewitched (1994), Penthouse (1995), Pup Tent (1997), and The Days of Our Nights (1999). It may not be every fan’s definition of the band’s best, but it’s certainly strong enough to sway newbies into being Luna aficionados.

Wilco, The Complete Studio Albums: Given the unexpected but awesome arrival of Star Wars – not Episode VII, but the latest studio endeavor from Wilco – this is a perfect time to take a step back and make sure that you’ve adequately explored the band’s back catalog. If you’ve somehow managed to avoid picking up any of their earlier albums, well, now you can kill eight birds with one stone, and if you don’t know what those eight birds are, allow us to educate you: they’re A.M. (1995), Being There (1996), Summerteeth (1999), Yankee Hotel Foxtrot (2002), A Ghost is Born (2004), Sky Blue Sky (2007), Wilco (The Album) (2009), and The Whole Love (2011). No, the Mermaid Avenue albums aren’t in this set, but you can’t have everything. (Plus, there’s already a separate Complete Sessions collection of that material, anyway.)
