This week, we're tuning in to "The History Of The Instrumental In Popular Music" by Douglas H. of Avalon, CA.

"Looking at popular instrumentals in chronological order revealed definite trends in the tastes and influences of their times. The early 50’s songs were blues based while the later fifties and early sixties started to include signs of surfing and television themes such as Westerns and Sci-Fi. The late sixties were groove oriented, and by the time we reached the end of seventies instrumentals had became more theatrical. The 80’s seemed more technical and as we moved into the 90’s the sound transitioned into an emotional, introspective phase."
