Now Available: Jethro Tull, Too Old to Rock ‘n’ Roll: Too Young to Die! Deluxe Edition

It's an album title that's right up there with a certain Who lyric when it comes to catching the attention of snarky journalists, but let them say what they will: Jethro Tull's Too Old to Rock 'n' Roll: Too Young to Die! has been entertaining the band's fans for almost 40 years at this point. Indeed, the album in question - the ninth studio effort from Ian Anderson and the gang - will be celebrating the big 4-0 next year, and to get a jump on that particular anniversary, we've just released a deluxe edition that'll make Tull fans stand up and cheer.

First, a bit of back story: after 1975's Minstrel in the Gallery, Jethro Tull had intended to not only record a new album but also put together a stage musical about an aging rock star. Somewhere along the line, however, they walked away from the musical idea and instead utilized the material they'd written for it as the basis for their new album, Too Old to Rock 'n' Roll: Too Young to Die!

Now that you know the album's origins, here's what you'll get in this new 2-CD / 2-DVD set:

An unreleased, alternate version of the album recorded for a British television special and remixed by Steven Wilson Bonus tracks (18 previously unreleased), all mixed to 5.1 surround and stereo by Steven Wilson Flat transfer of the original LP mix at 96/24 Commercial debut of footage from the television special

The whole affair is presented in a case-bound DVD book that includes an 80-page booklet with an extensive history of the album, track-by-track annotations by Ian Anderson, plus rare and unseen photographs, and it also includes the gatefold cartoon from the original album drawn by renowned comic artist Dave Gibbons.
