WAR XMAS

WAR ushers in the holiday season with its first-ever Christmas song, "(Yes It's) Christmas." On the track, the revered Southern California ensemble offers an irresistibly funky groove that radiates sunny vibes and the holiday spirit.

"(Yes It's) Christmas" is available today through various digital and streaming platforms, along with a Dolby Atmos mix. Listen HERE.

WAR began in the late Sixties when Jerry Goldstein brought Eric Burdon of The Animals together with a stellar lineup of Los Angeles musicians. This collaboration resulted in two albums: Eric Burdon Declares “War” (featuring the hit "Spill The Wine") and the double album, The Black-Man's Burdon. In 1970, Burdon departed, but the band continued to thrive as WAR. The new lineup struck a chord with audiences, delivering three consecutive #1 R&B albums: The World Is a Ghetto, Deliver the Word, and Why Can’t We Be Friends? The band scored major hits with "Slipping Into Darkness," "Why Can't We Be Friends?," and "The Cisco Kid." Notably, their R&B classic "Low Rider" was inducted into the Grammy® Hall of Fame in 2014.

Adding to the holiday cheer, later this month, WAR will release The World Is a Ghetto: 50th Anniversary Collector's Edition. Limited to 4,000 copies, this 5-LP boxed set will be available exclusively at select independent music retailers on November 24 for Record Store Day Black Friday. Curated by WAR's producer, Jerry Goldstein, it features a newly remastered version of the original album (the best-selling album in America in 1973) along with unreleased session outtakes. There are also previously unheard "making of" recordings that provide a fascinating glimpse into the evolution of each album track, from jams to finished songs.
