Learning To Crawl and Get Close (Expanded & Remastered) Ecard::$11.98 CD
In his review of the Pretenders 1984 third album, Rolling Stone's Kurt Loder wrote, "To say that Learning To Crawl" reconfirms Hynde as the most forceful female presence in rock already demeans her achievement... gender aside, she is the most unaffectedly personal of contemporary singer/songwriters, and surely the most stringently intimate lyricist working within a real rock & roll context." Recorded shortly after the deaths of original members James Honeyman-Scott and Pete Farndon, the album spotlights the band's lineup in flux yet still delivering genius work at a tragic juncture under Chrissie Hynde's leadership. 1986's Get Close is another mid-career essential portraying the ongoing evolution and extraordinary staying power of one of rock's most legendary bands. Rhino continues its upgrade of the Pretenders' singular catalog with expanded remasters of these two important titles.
