Alanis Morissette
This was a few years ago, maybe 2000. She was filming a video series called "Music In High Places," where they would take a well-known musician or group and go to some kind of spiritual location. This was the first one that they did; Alanis Morissette up in the Navajo/Four Corners area of Arizona-Colorado-New Mexico. We spent several days touring the old Anastazi ruins -- the people that lived in cliffs and built houses out of mud and stuff; very early people. She was very interested in it; we had a Navajo guide who took us back to sacred places and showed us all around. Then she and her group performed right there, out in the cliffs. One of the scenes was with a Navajo silversmith, and after we did that scene, showing him making the silver, she asked if she could buy a couple of pieces. I was standing there looking at some as well and I said "Gee, how much is this one?" and she said "Oh, let me buy that for you." And she bought me this silver Navajo bracelet which I wore for a couple years until I looked down one day and it wasn't there anymore. Kind of came and went!
