Jerry Garcia
This is 1970; it's Jerry Garcia. This picture was taken at Grace Slick and Paul Kantner's house in Bolinas up north. David Crosby had asked me to come up there with him to photograph all the friends of his that had played on his first solo album, If I Could Only Remember My Name. So we went to Grace and Paul's house and spent the afternoon in the living room just playing music, smoking joints, and talking and laughing. Besides Jerry, Grace, and Paul Kantner, there was Phil Lesh, and John Cippolina from the Quicksilver Messenger Service. And David Crosby, of course.
