Mama Cass
This I call the “Cleopatra shot.” My partner Gary Burden and I took Mama Cass to the desert in Palm Springs; we left late at night in a limo, got down there at dawn, and pulled up just beside the road where there were sand dunes. We spread these blankets out and had this costume she was wearing and these props, and bought fruit and onions and things at a supermarket. This was meant to be an album cover but instead it got used as a poster on Sunset Strip for when she played Las Vegas.
