![]() Paul McCartney in the Virgin IslandsI got a call from the McCartneys asking if I could come to the Virgin Islands and spend a week on these boats with them. They were floating on Watermelon Bay in the U.S. Virgin Islands and recording the tracks for London Town. They’d decided to combine it with their vacation, so they had the kids with them on one boat, the crew and musicians were on a second boat, and the third boat was converted into a recording studio. I spent a week there -- photographing them every day, kind of hanging out, having dinner every night, all the crew and musicians getting buzzed from beer and wine and stuff. Every night we’d have sort of a free-for-all up on the top of this one boat and try to throw each other off into the water. And every afternoon there would be swimming. It was really a great time. The last afternoon they actually brought their instruments up on deck and set up so that we could take pictures, and that’s where this photo of Wings playing comes from. ::next |
