Love Is The Song We Sing is the last word on one of popular music's defining regional scenes, and a worthy successor to our previous Nuggets collections.
The 77 tracks heard here trace the evolution of "The San Francisco Sound" from its mid-'60s folk rock roots (like The Beau Brummels and The Charlatans) and suburban garage band mutations (The Count Five, Frumious Bandersnatch) to the halcyon days of 1967 (Moby Grape, Jefferson Airplane) and the the freeform-FM explorations that followed (Santana, Grateful Dead). This music served as the soundtrack to one of America's most turbulent eras, but is neither history lesson nor nostalgia trip. From the famous to the obscure, these San Francisco Nuggets offer an open invitation to any listener with a taste for sonic experimentation and communal good vibes.
