"I purchased the "In A Word: Yes" boxed set today. On disc 5, track 10, there seems to be a distinct pop and an error at approximately 3:20 into the tune ("In the Presence Of"). Is this a defect in the "run" or is this an individual/isolated error? How can I get a properly working copy of this disc?"
We apologize for the pressing error on this disc. We'll be happy to replace it for you. Please send your defective disc to:

    Rhino New Media
    Attn. Mac Dunlop
3400 West Olive Ave. 5th Floor
    Burbank, CA 91505

We'll send you a replacement. Please include your mailing address and a copy of your email (or a note detailing your request). Please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery."

I was wondering if Rhino was going to be offering a complete set of Land of the Lost? That was my ultimate favorite show and I would really like to own all of the eposides
We don't have any plans to release further episodes of Land of the Lost, at this time. However, thanks for your letter, I'll pop it in our Suggestion Box.

Are you going to put out any more videos from G.I. Joe or Jem any time soon?
A message from the Rhino Video Deptartment:
Rhino's deal with Sunbow, the licensor of Transformers, GI Joe and Jem, has expired. Sony Entertainment has acquired them and will reissue these titles at some point.

I recently bought the Transformers DVD HEROES: THE REBIRTH , and much to my intergalactic dismay, found that it actually contained material from VILLAINS: THE ULTIMATE DOOM . What's up with that?
Sorry, that was the result of a pressing error. We'll be happy to send you the correct disc. Please return the one that's incorrectly labeled as HEROES (just the disc, please), and we'll send you one that both looks and plays like HEROES. Send yours to:

    Rhino New Media
    Attn. Mac Dunlop
3400 West Olive Ave. 5th Floor
    Burbank, CA 91505

Please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Do you have any plans for more GET A LIFE and MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER?
We don't have current plans for further Get A Life releases at this time. However, we do have the Mystery Science Theater 3000 Collection Vol. 3 available at this link: http://www.rhino.com/store/productdetail.lasso?number=970106.

My friend was recently telling me about how great DVD-Audio discs are. Do have DVD-Audio titles in your catalog and information about this technology?
Indeed we do! Rhino has many excellent DVD-Audio releases of some of the greatest records of all time. And now they sound even better than you could possibly imagine (and contain many nifty extras as well)! To see a list our DVD-Audio titles, as well as background information on this new audio/video format, click on this link: http://www.rhino.com/store/topgenre_dvdaudio.lasso.

Do You Have A Newsletter, And If So, How Do I Sign Up For It?
Yes we do! You can sign up for the Rhino Newsletter at this link: www.rhino.com/news/newsletter.

Rhino Titles Past, Present, And Future

Are you guys putting out more volumes of Beast Wars, in the future?
I don't have current information on further Beast Wars releases at this time. Please keep checking back for updates. You can also sign up for the Rhino Newsletter Sign Up here to stay in the loop.

Can Rhino help me find music?
Even though we don't have the manpower to act as a music-finding service--unless, of course, it's something that we have released that slipped by you (use our search engine for that) or something that we plan to release that you may not know about--there are several handy sites that may be of help to you. To find out whether or not an album is still in print and on which label it appears, try www.allmusic.com. They have a nifty search engine you can use to look stuff up by artist, album title, or song title. If you've discovered that what you're looking for is out of print and don't mind getting a copy of it on vinyl--which may involve your plunking down some extra bucks--you can try calling a place in New York called House Of Oldies at (212) 243-0500. (Be sure to tell them that Rhino sent ya!) You may also want to check out www.icemagazine.com--I.C.E. (which stands for "International CD Exchange") is a monthly newsletter that'll keep you updated on the release dates of CDs, both new and reissues, from every record label of note. And for non-Rhino videos, give www.allmovie.com, www.reel.com, or www.kencrane.com a try. Good luck!

    What Are Rhino's Future Releases?
The best way is to check the Upcoming Releases section on our site from time to time. You'll be able to find out what we're up to two or three months in advance! But, as John Lennon once sang, "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans." What that means is that the release dates are tentative and can change at any time, though they are updated regularly. By the way, Doc Rhino either doesn't know about or cannot divulge any future Rhino plans that are not posted on the site.

    What's Up With Rhino's Series?
The fact that some series have more volumes than others may be based upon demand (as shown by sales figures of previous volumes), legal issues (how easy or hard it is for us to get the legal clearances to use songs from a particular genre), or a subjective judgment concerning how many collections we feel it will take to adequately cover a certain type of music. It's different in every case!

Why Would You Use A Mono Version Of A Song When Stereo Tapes Exist?
Rhino's commitment to quality means that we will always master from the very best sounding tapes available, regardless of stereo or mono format.

How Do You Pick What Song To Use In A Compilation?
There are four main factors, jointly agreed upon by our remastering guru, Bill Inglot, and the Rhino Artist & Repertoire Department. Number one: We like to include the version that's the most popular, based upon the position that the single reached on the charts. Number two: We will usually use the single if the album version is widely available, particularly if you can get it on another Rhino release. Number three: You can only fit about 75 minutes of music on a CD (For example, using the single version of the originally-17-minute "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" on our LIGHT AND HEAVY: THE BEST OF IRON BUTTERFLY collection enabled us to include at least four more important tracks). Number four: In order to offer you the best possible sound, we will use the version for which we have the highest quality master tape if such an issue arises. The bottom line is that our decisions in this area are made on a case-by-case basis, and we don't put together our ultra-cool releases without giving them a lot of thought.

    Does Rhino Still Make Vinyl?
Yes we do! In fact, we just started reissuing vinyl titles again. So far we've only got a few:

  • Grateful Dead: Workingman's Dead
  • Grateful Dead: American Beauty
  • Grateful Dead: Live/Dead
  • T-Rex:Electric Warrior
  • Yes: The Yes Album
  • We'll make more. These titles are not currently available for purchase at www.rhino.com at this time, but you should be able find them at your local retailer.

    Monkees, Monkees, Monkees?!?

Do You Still Sell Monkees Stuff Other Than CDs And Videos?
For the foreseeable future at least, we plan to sell only Rhino-produced Monkees stuff. However, group member Micky Dolenz has a site up, through which you can buy Monkees memorabilia online at www.mickydolenz.com. Give it a shot!

    Monkees Fan Info?
Believe it or not, we get so many questions about The Monkees that we've given them their own hotline! You can get up-to-the-minute Rhino-related Monkees news by calling (310) 441-6565, 24 hours a day, seven days a week! If that means a toll call for you, keep in mind that you'll be hearing a three- to four-minute pre-recorded message which gets updated every few months. Hopefully, a short phone call to Los Angeles every few months will only cost you a few pennies! As far as their current activities, you can write to their biggest fanzine at the following address: Monkee Business, 2770 S. Broad St., Trenton, NJ 08610, U.S.A., Attn: Maggie McManus. Or you can call Monkee Business at (609) 888-4567.

So What Can Rhino Do For You?

    Does Rhino Accept Demos?
Rhino is a reissue label. If you want us to release your CD, follow these easy steps:
    1. Make a demo.
    2. Get that demo heard by a new-artist-focused record company.
    3. Record a really good, chart-topping album for a company that has, or will have, a good relationship with Rhino.
    4. Sell lots of copies and grow your fan base.
    5. Release more albums (optional).
    6. Have your record go out of print (generally an automatic function of time).
    7. Sit back and watch your songs appear on award-winning Rhino compilations and maybe even have your albums reissued by us!

    Does Rhino Accept Suggestions?
We'll be happy to look at any suggestions that you e-mail Dr. Rhino. If your suggestion is on the obscure side--like, "How 'bout releasing Gefilte Joe & The Fish's entire catalog?" or "How 'bout a Zager & Evans "best of"--you may want to go to http://www.rhinohandmade.com/suggestions.mgi2 and put it in their suggestion box. But please keep in mind a couple of things. Due to the vast quantity of input that we get, it is impossible to give a "yes" or "no" answer to each submission individually. So if you send your suggestion to the Doc, you can safely assume that it's been read and forwarded, but do not expect a reply. (He does sincerely thank you in advance, however!) The other thing to consider is that if you want money or credit for the suggestion, please do not send it. We have staffers here who come up with releases and are paid for the massive legwork involved in putting together each title. On the other hand, if you're gung ho and experienced enough to join us in the Rhino crash, feel free to have a look at the postings on the "jobs" page of our Web site!

Do You Guys Answer Music Trivia Questions?
Yeah, we fancy ourselves music "experts" around here. But unfortunately, we don't have the manpower to answer research questions that'll help you win that bet with your music-loving friends. However, you can get discographies and mini-bios on most artists by using the search engine of www.allmusic.com. And Joel Whitburn's books compiling info from the Billboard record sales charts (which you can order through any online service that sells books or your local store) are so handy that we here at Rhino don't know what we'd do without 'em!

Can I Get Song Lyrics Through You Guys?
We sell the CDs, but we don't have access to sheet music or lyrics around here (unless they're included with the disc/cassette). You may want to try the www.musicnotes.com Web site and see if they can help you. The only other option we can think of is to transcribe the lyrics yourself while listening to the recording (assuming that the singer isn't mush-mouthed).

Can Rhino Help Me Get Autographs?
No, I'm afraid we can't. We don't run any fan clubs out of our offices. When we receive fan mail for your favorite Rhino artists, we simply forward it to the currently listed manager for the artist--and you can do the same. We use a book called Billboard's International Talent & Touring Directory, which gets updated annually. It can be found at public libraries all over the U.S. You will not always get a response because many management offices operate on very low budgets and may not have the staff available to process your mail. But good luck!
