Juno: b-Sides

Buy From iTunesDownload From Amazon

Available exclusively from iTunes, JUNO B-SIDES: ALMOST ADOPTED SONGS expands the known Juno-verse with fifteen songs that were originally intended for the Academy Award®-winning film but didn’t make the final cut. As with Rhino’s #1 soundtrack album Juno (Music From The Motion Picture), B-SIDES’ sonic delights were selected by director Jason Reitman. Highlights include star Ellen Page's rendition of “Zub Zub,” a song by the film’s Oscar-honored screenwriter Diablo Cody that closes the collection plus two new tracks by Kimya Dawson, whose music defined the original soundtrack. Also featured are cuts from Belle & Sebastian, Yo La Tengo, Buddy Holly, Astrud Gilberto and more, all sweeter than a giant blue Slurpee with orange TicTacs on top!

Earlier this year, Rhino landed its first #1 album on the Billboard Album chart with the soundtrack for the award-winning film, Juno. Rhino now explores more of the Junoverse with JUNO B-SIDES: ALMOST ADOPTED SONGS, a compilation by director Jason Reitman that features songs intended for the film that were cut. JUNO B-SIDES contains more songs from Barry Louis Polisar, Kimya Dawson, and Belle and Sebastian, as well as one more tune by the film’s star, Ellen Page, written by the film’s screenwriter, Diablo Cody. On April 15, this collection from Rhino will debut exclusively through iTunes.

    About the movie...

The film's narrative centers on whip-smart Juno MacGuff (Page), a teenaged girl faced with an unplanned pregnancy from an afternoon with the charmingly unassuming Paulie Bleeker (Cera). Buoyed by the support of her parents (Allison Janney and J.K. Simmons), Juno seeks to find her unborn baby the perfect set of adoptive parents, and seemingly finds them in Mark and Vanessa Loring (Jason Bateman and Jennifer Garner), an affluent suburban couple. Throughout, Juno tackles her problems head-on, displaying a youthful exuberance that's both smart and unexpected as she faces the consequences of her actions, both short term and long term.

JUNO is winning widespread kudos for its disarming treatment of the subject matter. As Roger Ebert wrote in the Chicago Sun-Times, “Every element in the movie including her getting pregnant, and her non-boyfriend, and her parents, and the couple that wants to take the baby for adoption, is completely unlike any version of those characters I have ever seen before. And the dialogue is so quick and funny you feel the actors are performing it on a high-wire.”

The film was an official selection at this year's Telluride, Toronto, and London film festivals and received the Best Film award at the Rome International Film Festival as well as the Audience Award at the Stockholm Film Festival. At the Hollywood Film Festival, writer Diablo Cody took home the breakthrough screenwriter award, and Ellen Page was recognized as breakthrough actress.

JUNO (MUSIC FROM THE MOTION PICTURE FROM RHINO ENTERTAINMENT), the soundtrack album for 2007's Fox Searchlight Pictures' feature film JUNO, blends alt-rock stand-outs and classic hits for an engaging musical companion to the acclaimed coming-of-age tale. Ellen Page, who stars as Juno in what is being hailed as a major breakthrough performance, was actively involved in selecting music for the film.

Highlights include The Moldy Peaches' “Anyone Else But You” (Page and co-star Michael Cera also perform their version to close the album) - Kimya Dawson's “So Nice So Smart” and the Mott the Hoople classic “All The Young Dudes.”
