February 15 2006
LOS ANGELES --
Legendary "Soul Man" Sam Moore is currently in the studio with producer Randy Jackson putting the wraps on SAM MOORE: OVERNIGHT SENSATIONAL, his second solo project and follow-up to 2002's critically acclaimed lost solo album Plenty Good Lovin'. The CD is scheduled for a May 16 release on Rhino Records. Moore, who performed a stirring rendition of "In The Midnight Hour," in tribute to Wilson Pickett, closed the 48th Grammy Awards telecast on February 8, backed by a trio of luminaries, Bruce Springsteen, the Edge and Elvis Costello. SAM MOORE: OVERNIGHT SENSATIONAL is poised to add to Moore's renown. Dan Aykroyd, simply calls him "Super Voice," and Bruce Springsteen has described Moore as "the greatest soul voice on planet Earth!" The CD features songs by such celebrated and diverse composers as Garth Brooks, Diane Warren, Paul Carrack, Conway Twitty, Bobby Womack and Ahmet Ertegun, the founder of Atlantic Records who was responsible for Moore's early fame. Producer Randy Jackson describes Sam Moore as "THE true original," and furthers, "The phone has been ringing off the hook from artists wanting to get involved with this project; everyone wants to sing with Sam. The word is out, man. Check out this record."
