Jack Webb - Just The Tracks Ma'am

by Mac Dunlop

You know the man. He carries a badge. Can he carry a tune? He doesn't have to. He's Jack Webb, and this is the Rhino Handmade release: Just The Tracks Ma'am. This 25 track CD collects Jack's Warner Brothers recordings, and the straightforward magic he brought to the microphone. I know what you're thinking, "Jack Webb... that's a one-way ticket to Squaresville!" Well, you couldn't be more wrong, brother. Whether he's reading some punk (hopped up on goofballs) his rights, or the lyrics of "Try A Little Tenderness" over lush strings, he's got IT. That IT is a voice that has loved and lost, seen ups and downs, and never once showed a hint of palpable emotion. Sure, there are plenty of kooky kids out there who can wear their hearts on their sleeves, but none of them can match Jack's intimate monotone. So sit back and enjoy Jack Webb's "romantic reflections" from his record You're My Girl and the instrumental musings of Jack Webb Presents Pete Kelly Lets His Hair Down. It's all here on Just The Tracks Ma'am.

Mac Dunlop is a man of many moods and many lethal karate moves, which he formulated on a ski weekend in Vermont. He was born to string words together into sentences and gently slip them inside your sexy brain. When not saving the world, Mac likes to spend much time at www.letteropeners.net. You will too.

A word about submissions: We post what you give us, so please don't include your email address or any personal info. Your comments reach Rhino, not necessarily the writer, so don't expect a reply from them (or us, see our help section for contact info). We gather and post your submissions in batches, so do expect a short delay. And don't get bent if we edit your comments. We probably won't, but we reserve that right.
