Just because I have the title "Professor" affixed to my name, people sometimes think that this Grabbington is all work and no play. Well, nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, there is nothing I like more than hunkering down in front of the TV on Saturday mornings, with a big bowl of Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs. Yes, cartoons are one of the colors that make up my kaleidoscope of passions. And when the worlds of cartoons and music come togetherwell, I guess sometimes the universe does make sense.
All of this brings me to the rockin' babes who bear the moniker of Josie and The Pussycats. For those of you who remember your animation-lore, these are the three mystery-solvin', ear & tail wearin' girls who know how to get your hips shakin' to their go-go beat. Cooler than The Archies, and sexier than Daphne & Velma, Josie and her Pussycats (Melody & Valerie) romped through their Saturday morning adventures while spinning off groovy tunes at every turn. All of these great recordings are collected on the Rhino Handmade release Josie and The Pussycats Stop, Look, and Listen: The Capitol Recordings. Included are the girls' classic songs like "Every Beat Of My Heart," "Stop, Look, and Listen," and "You've Come A Long Way Baby," as well as alternate mixes and previously unreleased recordings.
