Black Sabbath's second full-length, 1971's PARANOID, set the template for countless heavy metal and hard rock albums to come. Primal and menacing, it remains one of the most influential sonic documents of its kind, with Ozzy Osbourne's vocals'and Tony Iommi's lead guitar lines'creating an indelible signature on now immortal tracks including 'Paranoid,' 'War Pigs' and 'Iron Man.' Certified four-times platinum, it went to #12 in Billboard when it was originally released.

Great album from War Pigs to Fairies, the beginning of Electric Funeral is stunning - first time I heard a wah wah pedal used on a riff & I first heard this album when I was in year 8 at high school (14 years old). Still love listening to the masters of heavy rock.

When Paranoid first came out, it was a shock to the system to for the average listener of rock and roll -- it was like an espresso for Maxwell House coffee drinkers, an assault to the auditory senses; except for Jimmy Page's Led Zeppelin, nothing came close. This was born of the marriage of massive guitar barrages and horror movie sensibilities, a relentless panzer attack masterpiece. War Pigs captured that 70's time period of war protest, but it was a kick to the head instead of the usual folk pleading for change. Iron Man is simply a heavy metal classic, with Paranoid and Electric Funeral coming as my common favorites with Iommi savage guitar work and Ozzie's gripping vocals. Closing out the album is the head-banging "Fairies Wear Boots". A classic album.
