With todays technology...you couldn't get the recorded in a 'massive tin shed' sound out? Come one guys. HUGE BLUNDER

Wolfgang's Vault offered better on downloads than this. Not even close to their best live shows at the time. At least the notes and artwork were okay.

Very disappointed in the $40 purchase of this. At times sounds like a bootleg from a cassette recorder. If it was coming from the sound board it would be picking up the singers and instruments better than this. No dynamics to this recording. I understand this is 1975, but the Chicago in Japan I believe was recorded in 1972, and it sounds so much better. While I like to collect rare Chicago audio and videos $40 is about twice as much as this is worth. I would rather see videos of the old days when the band was the original lineup remastered if there are any out there, and there seems to be some.

Ugh. It sounded better as samples from my laptop speakers, when I didn't expect much. On a stereo, or on the air where i played a track, it reveals its sonic deficiencies...and no, I can not recommend paying the $40 for this sub-par release. Half that...MAYBE. I will say that it sounds better than The Stooges at Ungano's, an absolutely execrable handmade offering...

The samples I heard and the reviews seem to jive. It's from a soundboard and usually the vocals are strong in the mix. Peter Cetera's vocals live were hit or miss and Terry Kath's guitar has been lost in the mix before unfortunately. If you want to hear a good show look for the 6/20/77 show from nassau coliseum on the net. The band is hitting on all cylinders this night.

this recording captured exactly what the audience heard. people have become accustomed to current "live" recordings that are doctored up later with overdubbed vocals and instruments that they cant appreciate what a real concert sounds like. I have enjoyed this release. it is true Chicago in its heyday

I have to agree about the comment of todays technology.......yes thats right todays.....that wasn't available in 1975. after listening to the 2 c.d.'s I highly recommend Live in 75, I almost didn't buy it because of the bad reviews....Today you can mic all the instruments and voices so much better then back in 75. I feel gratefull that this archive has been released. I was at the beach boy / chicago concert here at the chicago stadium, and its just as I remember it. ( folks remember they played at sports stadiums, not concert halls usually ) and it has just that sound. I only wish it was being video taped too, but we didn't have the digital world as we do today, which has brought the cost down to where anyone can afford to record hours of video. Its a pleasure to hear Terry at his best as always, and I will always have the fondest memories of the greatest band ever......keep it comming Rhino !!!

While that I will admit that the final production by Rhino could have been EQ'd better, this is still a time capsule of a great band at a high point in their career (they have had several high points) And yes, Cetera was not at his best on this recording but I've seen Chicago with him about 10 times and have heard plenty of other live recordings with him that have been nothing but spectacular so he gets a free pass (the grind of touring is tough on a vocalist) I have seen many, many concerts a The Capital Centre--Chicago twice--and this CD sounds like a Capital Centre concert and is a great piece of nostalgia of a bygone era. And to the "WRONG CITY" reviewer, the Capital Centre (not Center) was in Largo--Landover was on the other side of the Beltway

Well, the geeks at RHINO showed their lazy side again with this release. What probably happened is that they were only given a 2 track stereo master so trying to mix this the proper way with the multi-tracks didn't happen (because they didn't have any in the first place) BUT they still could've got a MUCH better sound using a state-of-the-art parametric or some other sort of elaborate EQ system. It IS indeed disappointing with the sound quality. Kath's guitar is weak and sometimes almost invisible. At the end of the day, the mix guys Rhino hires could've done a hell of a better job. When I spoke to Robert Lamm about this release, he knew absolutely NOTHING about it. The band would not have approved this final mix at all! KEEP TRYING Rhino - you need to hire back David McLees & Jeff Magid. THEY would've made this thing work in a big way! Andrew Sandoval just doesn't have the CHICAGO touch as these other guys did!!! Sorry!
Mike Engstrom knows better than this and many of us hardcore fans have offered even rarer, better sounding shows and they just don't give a crap anymore!

Undoubtedly the best Chicago is here. This same tour came to my city (Mexico City) in november 75. The level of musicality is very high in all members specially in danny Seraphine drums and Cetera's voice and obviously in Kath's guitar. I have compared this concert with Mexico's 75 (which I have from recording the concert on a tape corder from a program that was aired in mexico one week later on TV) and I think these year was the best in all Chicago's career. Unfortunately no version of Never Been in Love Before which was played in my city. A must for collectors.
