“Her notes are crystal clear, intonation perfect, interpretations honest and pure...She takes the audience right to the edge of the cliff emotionally, but never tosses anyone over with excessive belting and posturing. Eder is an artist who possesses the kind of individuality that marks a great, enduring star.” - Variety, reviewing a live performance from 2000, featuring the material covered by GREATEST HITS

Broadway superstar and celebrated solo voice Linda Eder cites legendary singers Barbra Streisand and fellow Minnesotan Judy Garland as her inspirations. The world-class reputation she has established on her own now places Eder in the pantheon of vocal divas as well, and her artistry shines on Rhino's GREATEST HITS, her first-ever retrospective “best of” compilation. The single-disc collection features fifteen definitive recordings, including Broadway classics and other essential selections, spanning 1995-2003.

All newly remastered, the tracks are culled from four albums recorded during those years: The Complete Jekyll & Hyde: The Gothic Musical Thriller (1995), It's Time (1997), It's No Secret Anymore (1999) and Broadway My Way (2003). Highlights include “Bring on The Men” (from Jekyll & Hyde), “Man Of La Mancha (I Don Quixote)” (from Man Of La Mancha), “Anthem” (from Chess) and “I Am What I Am” (from La Cage Aux Folles). Also featured are immortal songs made famous by Eder's dual idols: “Don't Rain On My Parade,” a hit for Streisand from Funny Girl, and “Over The Rainbow,” the Judy Garland signature song that inspired Eder to pursue her dream of a life in music in the first place.

When Linda Eder came onto the scene in the early '90s, she was celebrated as one of the most important and exciting contemporary interpreters of the American popular songbook and theatrical music to emerge in years. She first rose to fame after a 12-week winning run on Star Search, which brought her to the attention of composer Frank Wildhorn (whom she subsequently married), who cast her in the debut of his musical Jekyll & Hyde. Since then, she has won fans internationally both through theatrical productions and concerts and premier venues worldwide including Carnegie Hall.
