Pre-eminent contemporary jazz saxophone master Gerald Albright made his debut as a solo artist with 1987's stellar Top 10 album Just Between Us, on Atlantic Records. Highlights from that disc and other acclaimed albums from Albright comprise this essential eleven track, single-disc compilation featuring many of his greatest cuts through 2001.

Just Between Us is represented with Albright's stand-out original composition “New Girl On The Block,” and his hit version of the Luther Vandross-penned “So Amazing.” Also featured are two soulful cuts from the Los Angeles-based Albright's hugely acclaimed '91 #4 jazz LP Live At Birdland West - an improvisational tour de force on “Georgia On My Mind” and an intense “Bossa Nova,” featuring keyboard great Joe Sample. Other highlights include rich interplay with guitarist Lee Ritenour on “G & Lee” and the collection's most recent cut, “When Morning Comes 2001.”

With influences including Cannonball Adderley and Maceo Parker, Albright first won acclaim as an ace session player on the west coast, lending his smooth and soulful sounds on countless R&B and crossover/contemporary jazz recordings. Among the luminaries he worked with - on record and on tour - are Anita Baker, Phil Collins, Quincy Jones, Teddy Pendergrass, Barry White, Whitney Houston and many others. A lifelong Californian, Albright was raised in South Central Los Angeles.
