Chicago's expansive catalogue continues to be “Feelin' Stronger Every Day” with Rhino's ongoing upgrade and expansion of their repertoire. In honor of the legendary group's 1967 formation in the Second City, the latest addition to Chicago's musical bounty is the hit-packed THE BEST OF CHICAGO: 40TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION, a career-spanning, 2CD anthology presenting thirty newly remastered songs chronicling almost forty years of their creative evolution.

The most comprehensive double-disc Chicago collection to date, the title pulls favorites from their landmark 1969 debut LP Chicago Transit Authority through Rhino's 2006 release Chicago XXX (the group's first album of new material in a decade). Offered at a great value price, the retrospective also features new liner notes by veteran music writer Bill DeYoung, with cover art and internal graphics conceived by a fan whose submission was selected through an Internet-based contest overseen by Rhino and Chicago.

Saluting Chicago's forty year mark and their extensive, genre-defying legacy finds no shortage of musical milestones to celebrate. The first band to accomplish the feat of placing albums in the Top 40 of Billboard's pop albums chart for five successive decades, Chicago is second only to the Beach Boys as the most successfully charting American group ever. Their career encompasses over 100 million records sold worldwide, five consecutive #1 albums, 13 platinum and 18 gold albums and 20 Top 10 singles including five #1s among their long list of accomplishments.

Sequenced chronologically over two CDs, the 30 songs spanning 1969 to 2006 on THE BEST OF CHICAGO: 40TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION include a trio of Billboard #1 pop singles: “Look Away,” “Hard To Say I'm Sorry” and the GRAMMY®winning “If You Leave Me Now.” Also featured are the Top 10 hits “Colour My World,” “Saturday In The Park,” “Old Days,” “Hard Habit To Break,” “Baby What A Big Surprise” and “You're The Inspiration.” Seminal early classics on the set include “25 Or 6 To 4,” “Does Anybody Really Know What Time It is?” and “Make Me Smile,” with the most recent inclusion being their 2006 hit “Love Will Come Back.”

Through forty years, varying personnel changes and revitalizing creative and stylistic shifts, Chicago continues to actively record and be a major concert draw around the world. Their lineup now includes founding members Robert Lamm (keyboards, vocals), Walter Parazaider (sax, woodwinds), Lee Loughnane (trumpet) and James Pankow (trombone) along with Bill Champlin (keyboards, vocals), Jason Scheff (bass, vocals), Keith Howland (guitar) and Tris Imboden (drums).

In 2002, Rhino entered into an exclusive, long-term partnership with Chicago to restore their entire body of work and develop new titles. THE BEST OF CHICAGO: 40TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION is part of this collaboration.
