DREAM THEATERDream Theater: Greatest Hit (...and 21 other pretty cool songs)$19.98 CD The first-ever best-of compilation from Dream Theater is a 2-CD, twenty-two track set spanning 1991-2005 that spotlights the band's virtuoso musicianship, elaborate orchestration and spectacular songwriting. GREATEST HIT (...and 21 other pretty cool songs) features rare single edits, B-sides and three awe-inspiring new remixes by Kevin Shirley, recently celebrated for his work remixing Led Zeppelin. In all, the collection amasses over two hours of world-class progressive hard rock from James LaBrie (vocals), John Myung (bass), John Petrucci (guitar/vocals), Mike Portnoy (drums/vocals), and Jordan Rudess (keyboards). A testament to both Dream Theater's sense of humor and their ability to amass a worldwide legion of fans without the benefit of significant radio or MTV airplay, the anthology's title is a sly reference to the New York-based band's one major hit, “Pull Me Under.” The song is originally from their acclaimed 1992 album Images & Words, and the version heard here is one of the three cuts remixed by Kevin Shirley, who also works magic on “Take The Time” and “Another Day.” Serious dream fulfillment for the band's loyal following, the set is divided by disc into “The Dark Side” (the metallic) and “The Light Side” (the melodic). In addition to Shirley's new mixes of “Pull Me Under” and “Take The Time,” Disc 1 “Dark” stand-outs include rare single edits of “Lie,” “Home” and “Misunderstood.” Disc 2 “Light” highlights encompass Shirley's remix of “Another Day,” an alternate mix of “Through Her Eyes,” a single edit of “Solitary Shell” and “To Live Forever,” a rare U.K.-only b-side from the single “Lie.” Selection # 429948 ::Watch Videos By Dream Theater You really should take a look at these: |
