GRAHAM NASHReflections (3-CD)$54.98 CD Presented in HDCD, REFLECTIONS is a 3-CD boxed set encompassing more than forty years of memorable music from one of rock's most legendary singer-songwriters, Graham Nash. The box, which spans 1967-2007, is the first retrospective compilation to chronicle the influential artist's body of work. The collection's 64 selections - half of which are unreleased mixes, alternate versions and previously unissued tracks - are sequenced chronologically, pulling from Nash's solo repertoire, his work with The Hollies and from various configurations of his ongoing collaborations with David Crosby, Stephen Stills and Neil Young. All the tracks spotlight Nash's rich tenor, one of the most recognizable in rock, and his voice and social conscience as a songwriter are equally resonant throughout. REFLECTIONS' deluxe packaging features a 150-page booklet with 75 photographs, ranging from the iconic to the previously unseen. Many of the images are by Nash, who is an internationally exhibited and collected photographer. The GRAMMY-winning Rock and Roll Hall of Famer also provides introductory liner notes and insightful track-by-track commentary. The three-disc set's tracks range from Nash's best known sides to rarities making their recorded debut. Disc One opens the REFLECTIONS experience with the original mono recordings of a trio of Nash's British Invasion-era hits with The Hollies: “On A Carousel,” “Carrie Anne” and “King Midas In Reverse.” Highlights also include previously unissued alternate mixes of CSNY's Nash-penned hit “Teach Your Children” and the solo stand-out “Military Madness,” an unreleased solo acoustic demo of “Right Between The Eyes” and classics from CSN's landmark 1969 debut album: “Marrakesh Express,” “Pre-Road Downs” and “Lady Of The Island.” Disc Two begins with “To The Last Whale,” one of REFLECTIONS' many gems from Nash's partnership in a duo with David Crosby (“Immigration Man,” perhaps their best-known collaboration, appears on Disc One). Also featured are highlights including CSN's “Just A Song Before I Go” and a previously unreleased mix of “Cathedral.” Disc Three boasts the previously unreleased solo songs “We Breathe The Same Air” and “In Your Name,” the latter - which closes the set - recorded in 2007. Rarities also include previously unissued versions of “Liar's Nightmare,” “Unequal Love” and “Two Hearts,” a duet with Carole King. * Previously Unreleased Mix Selection # 446076 You really should take a look at these: |
