 First released in 1969, ODESSA marked an early creative milestone for the Brothers Gibb, drawing comparisons to the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band in the depth and breadth of its songwriting and magnificent production. Reprise's 40th anniversary vinyl reissue of Barry, Robin and Maurice's pop masterpiece is a deluxe gatefold edition that authentically replicates the original double-LP set, down to the distinctive red-flocked cover and metallic gold lettering. Remastered from the original multi-track tapes, ODESSA's 17 selections-ranging from simple acoustic songs to orchestral overtures-sound brilliant on 180-gram audiophile vinyl, sequenced over the set's four LP sides. 

 The album was primarily recorded during one week in 1968 at the storied Atlantic Recording Studios in New York City. Encouraged by their manager/mentor Robert Stigwood to pursue a more expansive work, the Bee Gees' further sessions in London resulted in their only double studio album. Song highlights include the acoustic “Marley Purt Drive,” the orchestral “First Of May” and the dramatic title track, “Odessa (City On The Black Sea).”
