The production of a new Ring At The Bayreuth Festival is an event that takes place every six years. Bayreuth recordings of the complete cycle are rare; this is only the third official audio recording and the second filmed version. The recording of this production, originally released in 1993 and 1994, is one of the all-time highlights of the Teldec catalogue. In a few years it has become one of a small number of reference recordings of the cycle. The production was also filmed in high-definition television. A bonus DVD of highlights enhances the presentation of one of the most desirable Ring cycles in the catalogue.
