QUEENSRYCHEMindcrime At The Moore$24.98 CD Queensrÿche formed in Seattle in 1981, and their five-man army's electrifying fusion of Geoff Tate's virtuoso lead vocals, monster guitars and crushing rhythmic force quickly propelled them to hard rock stardom. A major turning point for the 'Rÿche came with their 1988 concept album masterpiece Operation: Mindcrime, which was critically and popularly acclaimed, spending over a year on Billboard's album chart. Forged out of Reagan-era political disillusionment, the certified platinum, GRAMMY®-nominated disc broke them into the mainstream and proved that the band's strength and legacy were as much connected to prog-rock and Pink Floyd-ian pageantry as to the hard rock icons and pop-metal sensations who were their contemporaries. In early 2006, the quintet - still powered by 4 out of 5 original members, including Tate - delivered the scorching sequel to their classic tale of “Rock, Revenge and Redemption” with Operation: Mindcrime II. Later that year, Queensrÿche launched a series of concerts presenting the entire saga - the 1981 album and the '06 follow-up - in sequence, with live actors playing key roles in a full-blown theatrical production. The visionary Operation: Mindcrime storyline resonates powerfully in today's turbulent social and political climate, and the shows were a revelation. Popmatters.com wrote, “Vocalist/lyricist Geoff Tate stands as one of the most intellectually challenging performers in rock history. Staging over two hours worth of thinking-man's rock and roll is an ambitious undertaking, but Queensrÿche pulled it off.” This 2-CD set captures the live Operation: Mindcrime spectacle at its most explosive when the band brought it to their hometown. Recorded October 13, 14 & 15 at Seattle's Moore Theater, Disc 1 spotlights the fifteen songs introduced on 1988's Operation: Mindcrime including “Revolution Calling,” “I Don't Believe In Love” and “Eyes Of A Stranger.” Disc 2 covers Operation: Mindcrime II's seventeen tracks, including “I'm An American,” “One Foot In Hell,” “Hostage” and “The Hands.” It's an extraordinary sonic experience that's a must for every Rÿche and Roller!
