Rhino's Finest

“***** (out of five)—Indescribably essential.”—Dave Marsh, Rolling Stone Record Guide The third and final album by the original Love lineup, Forever Changes is universally recognized as the L.A.-based psychedelic folk-rock pioneers’ most fully realized studio effort. Produced by band co-founder Arthur Lee and The Doors’ engineer/producer Bruce Botnik, and released by Elektra in early ’68, the album features Lee’s tremulous vocals, striking melodies, evocative orchestral arrangements, and inscrutable but poetic lyrics. Had Love toured to support this album (Lee adamantly refused), the underground cult heroes would no doubt have achieved worldwide fame that year.   Now, more than three decades later, remastered and augmented with bonus material (most of it previously unreleased), Forever Changes captures that moment, while still sounding remarkably contemporary—a clear reflection of Love’s influence on the cosmic travelers jamming the psychedelic grooves of the new millennium. The deluxe packaging includes new liner notes by Ben Edmonds with quotes from group members Arthur Lee, Bryan MacLean, and Ken Forssi along with Bruce Botnik and Elektra founder Jac Holzman.  Have a listen, and spread the Love!
