The Jesus And Mary Chain
THE JESUS AND MARY CHAIN21 Singles$18.98 CD Sweet pop and white noise conspire on their first and only career-spanning collection, featuring U.K. and U.S. singles, soundtrack cuts, and key album tracks on a single disc. Exploring a vein mined by their heroes The Velvet Underground and The Stooges, Glasgow, Scotland-based alt-rockers The Jesus And Mary Chain were the link between melody and feedback in the ’80s and ’90s. The band’s half-dozen albums, nearly two dozen singles, and riot-inducing live shows were in turn an inspiration to the next generation of sonic subversives, from My Bloody Valentine to The Chemical Brothers to Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. The Jesus And Mary Chain formed in 1984. Later that year their seminal debut single, “Upside Down,” and cataclysmic live shows made them overnight sensations in the U.K. A year later they connected with Blanco Y Negro/Warner Bros. and issued the smash single “You Trip Me Up” and their revolutionary debut album, Psychocandy. They followed with more sonic pop experiments on Darklands (1987), Automatic (1989), Honey’s Dead (1992), Stoned & Dethroned (1994), and Munki (1998), albums that would prove highly influential in their own right. And though The Jesus And Mary Chain disbanded in 1999, their legend looms large. Their sound blares on. Selection # 78256 You really should take a look at these: |
