Randy Newman’s sixth album was released in 1977, and it became his highest-charting album -- largely on the strength of the smash single “Short People,” which reached #2 on the Billboard chart (though Randy’s catalog brimmed with subtle humor and satirical send-ups, the hit was misunderstood by the general public, resulting in protests and threats). Produced by Lenny Waronker and Russ Titelman, the Little Criminals sessions included guest performances from most of The Eagles.  

The DVD-Audio version of Little Criminals, mixed from the original multitrack tapes by George Massenberg, includes the original video for “Short People.” It also includes new liner notes by Rolling Stone writer David Wild, a gallery of rare photos, and -- to put misunderstandings firmly in the past -- lyrics to all the songs.  

This DVD-Audio release has been mixed from the original multitrack master tapes to create the best, most dynamic sound possible. Complete with stereo and surround sound mixes (both standard and audiophile advanced resolution quality), along with bonus video, text, and still imagery content, this disc is playable in any DVD player. However, in order to access the audiophile quality advanced resolution mixes, your DVD player must be DVD-Audio compatible. Interactive menus will guide you through the songs and, when available, additional audio or visual content, though it is not necessary to view the menus on the screen in order to enjoy the music, as the disc can function just like a standard CD if dropped into the player.
