The band’s five albums for Sire Records stand among the crowning artistic achievements of the 1980s, bringing an unprecedented level of wit and introspection to some of the most sublime guitar pop ever recorded. The Smiths parted ways in 1987, whereupon Morrissey embarked on what would soon become a glorious solo career, eventually releasing eight more albums for Sire-Reprise and further cementing his status as one of the preeminent singer-songwriters of modern rock.  Rhino’s single-disc The Best Of Morrissey is loaded with 21 of Moz’s biggest singles and mightiest album tracks from his eight solo albums.
