Two From The Vault

Volume Two of the legendary From The Vault series contains an early show from the band's history and features a concert recorded August 24, 1968 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles with members Garcia, Lesh, Pigpen, Weir, Kruetzmann and Hart. Taking place shortly after the release of Anthem Of The Sun, the concert highlights the band's stunning improvisational skills at the peak of the Haight-Ashbury scene. The opening disc collects covers of Sonny Boy Williamson's “Good Morning, Little Schoolgirl” and the Rev. Gary Davis' “Death Don't Have No Mercy” along with “Dark Star,” “The Eleven” and “St. Stephen,” a song that would debut several months later on Aoxomoxoa.

The second disc features two songs from Anthem including “New Potato Caboose” and the extended jam entitled “That's It For The Other One.” The disc closes with “Turn On Your Lovelight” and “(Walk Me Out In The) Morning Dew.” This expanded edition features a bonus disc containing three rare tracks from Anthem's side two - “Alligator” and “Caution (Do Not Stop On Tracks)” - along with the appropriately titled “Feedback.”
