MOBYMoby: Songs 1993-1998 (Greatest Hits)$11.98 CD Sixteen classic tracks from techno/dance superstar Moby's Elektra years comprise this atmospheric collection that ranges from ambient trance to Hi-NRG house singles to cinematic grooves - and all the indescribable sonic spaces in between reached by this master of the form. An iconic figure in both techno and dance music who crossed the genres over to the mainstream on both sides of the Atlantic, Connecticut-born Moby signed to Elektra in the early '90s and debuted for the label with 1995's critically acclaimed Everything Is Wrong. Stand-outs from that album include the house single “Feeling So Real” and the rapturously ambient “God Moving Over The Face Of The Waters.” Moby's completely unique blend of techno, electronica, house, pop, rock and more continued to intrigue and move his masses of fans, and other favorites featured on this diverse compilation are the soundtrack-inflected “I Like To Score,” “First Cool Hive” and the Hi-NRG gem “Move (You Make Me Feel So Good).” Highlights also include an innovative 1998 re-recording of his seminal 1991 song “Go” (from his '92 Instinct debut LP Moby) and the alt-rock flavored “Alone” from 1996's Animal Rights. A globally renowned singer-songwriter and techno wizard, Moby is also widely known as one of popular music's most iconoclastic personalities, drawing attention for his strongly-held environmental, political and religious beliefs. Born Richard Melville Hall, the nickname “Moby” was given to him as a child in reference to his great-great-great-uncle Herman's literary masterpiece Moby-Dick.
