THE REPLACEMENTSPleased To Meet Me (Expanded)$18.98 CD “…alive with the crackle of conflicting emotions and kamikaze rock & roll fire …what fuels PLEASED TO MEET ME is the combination of Westerberg's instinctive grasp of adolescent trauma and the band's basement-rock fury, brilliantly produced by Memphis studio legend Jim Dickinson, who gets it warts and all.” After emerging from and defining the Minneapolis music scene of the early 1980s and issuing a series of seminal releases on indie label Twin/Tone, The Replacements signed to Sire Records in 1985. Their fifth full-length and second for a major label, PLEASED TO MEET ME was also the band's first following the official departure of guitarist Bob Stinson, part of the legendary founding line-up that also included lead singer and songwriter Paul Westerberg, Chris Mars (drums) and Tommy Stinson (bass). Rhino's newly REMASTERED & EXPANDED edition of this 1987 album classic features the original 11-song set plus 12 rare bonus tracks, half of them previously unreleased. The album was recorded in Memphis, TN with producer Jim Dickinson (whose association with Big Star forged the connection with the 'Mats). Memorable tracks include “Alex Chilton,” “The Ledge,” “I Don't Know,” “Red Red Wine” and “Can't Hardly Wait.” Among the dozen bonus rarities are a previously unreleased alternative version of “Alex Chilton” and previously unissued demos for “Valentine,” “Bundle Up,” “Empty As My Heart,” “Time Is Killing Us” and “Kick It In.” PLEASED TO MEET ME is also available on 180-gram virgin vinyl from Rhino, minus the bonus material. *previously unissued recording Selection # 513982 ::Watch Videos By The Replacements You really should take a look at these: |
