Album of the Day
Paintin’ The Town Brown (Ween Live ‘90-’98)
PAINTIN’ THE TOWN BROWN (WEEN LIVE ‘90 – ‘98) was released as the alt-rock wild cards neared the end of their tenure with Elektra Records. The double-disc set follows Gene & Dean Ween from the time when they were just a duo with a drum machine to their MOLLUSK-era touring band - with several recordings in-between featuring the Nashville session players who helped make 12 GOLDEN COUNTRY GREATS great. The varied song selection is sure to please hardcore fans, with non-album tracks like “Mountain Dew” and an epic version of “Vallejo” rubbing shoulders with such favorites as “Doctor Rock.” You'll hear plenty of anarchic humor in the two-hour runtime but also impressive musicianship (Dean’s guitar work in particular). There’s nothing quite like a Ween concert, and PAINTIN’ THE TOWN BROWN puts you in a prime seat.
