When the gold rush inspired by The Beatles’ success spread from Liverpool to Manchester, Freddie & the Dreamers were waiting. A’s, B’s & EP’s includes two dozen of the band’s 7” sides from their 1963-’66 heyday, including all their U.K. Top 40 hits, among them “If You Gotta Make A Fool Of Somebody,” “You Were Made for Me” and “I'm Telling You Now,” which topped the chart in the U.S. Featuring the original mono mixes, this 2005 compilation digs a little deeper than a greatest hits set; if Freddie Garrity’s goofy antics are what some remember of the group, this collection shows they had a serious affinity for American R&B. A’s, B’s & EP’s provides an engaging introduction to these British Invaders.
