When mod favorites The Small Faces took in Rod Stewart and Ron Wood and shortened their name, they became Britain's most boisterous party band this side of The Rolling Stones. Championed by deejay John Peel, the group made numerous radio appearances and AT THE BBC — COMPLETE BBC CONCERT & SESSION RECORDINGS 1970-1973 compiles all of the group’s concerts and surviving studio sessions for the Beeb. Much of the music on this 8-CD/Blu-ray set is previously unreleased, including versions of such favorites as “Stay With Me” and “Bad ’n’ Ruin” as well as Stewart solo sides like “Every Picture Tells A Story.” The group’s Ronnie Lane was born on this day in 1946 and in his honor, we’ll cue up FACES AT THE BBC.
