Album of the Day
Blue
Catapulted to stardom by the success of their self-titled debut, Third Eye Blind returned in 1999 with BLUE. To those who only knew them from “Semi-Charmed Life,” the Elektra collection shows an edgier side of the San Francisco alt-rock quartet, couching serious lyrical themes with muscular performances (guitarist Kevin Cadogan makes his final album with TEB really count). For all that, these songs are as radio ready as ever, with “Never Let You Go,” “Anything” and “Wounded” among the standouts. The set was a Platinum-certified hit, and has been cited by frontman Stephan Jenkins as a personal favorite. In celebration of the band's 30th anniversary, Third Eye Blind just released a limited edition colored vinyl LP for Record Store Day, RARITIES & FIRST DRAFTS, that features previously unavailable tracks including alternate versions of “Semi-Charmed Life,” “Motorcycle Drive By” and more.
