Josh Groban was barely out of his teens when his mellifluous voice caught the ear of mega-producer David Foster. Navigating nimbly between vocal pop and classical music, their first collaboration was a hit, but its success was dwarfed by that of CLOSER. The 2003 Reprise album topped the U.S. chart and eventually became the top-selling classical album of the decade. For a crossover smash, it's unusually ambitious; many of its 13 tracks are sung in languages other than English, Groban co-wrote three songs, and steps well beyond his romantic ballad comfort zone on such selections as “Never Let Go” (recorded with Deep Forest).
