As a child, Panic! at the Disco’s Brendon Urie jumped from piano to guitar to a homemade drum kit to play songs stuck in his head, and that approach is echoed on DEATH OF A BACHELOR – he’s on virtually every instrument but horns here. As the title suggests, the collection reflects the changes in Urie’s life since his 2013 marriage, with a sound the singer-songwriter described as a “mix between Sinatra and Queen.” That broad range includes something for everyone, with opener “Victorious,” lead single “Hallelujah” and the title track among the high points. DEATH OF A BACHELOR was the #1 album on the Billboard 200 chart on this day in 2016 and the collection has since been certified double-Platinum.
