DIAMOND GIRL found Jimmy Seals and Dash Crofts leaning into a more polished sound, expanding their folk-pop roots with the driving “Standin’ On A Mountain Top” and atmospheric “Nine Houses.” The 1973 set became Seals & Crofts’ highest-charting album, reaching the Top 10 on the strength of two major hits: the jazz-inflected title track (#6) and its melodic follow-up “We May Never Pass This Way (Again)” (#21). Even when the duo are rocking out on “It’s Gonna Come Down (On You),” producer Louie Shelton keeps their signature two-part harmonies at the center of attention. DIAMOND GIRL was reissued last month on blu-ray audio, sparkling with quadraphonic and hi-res stereo mixes transferred from the original analog four-track master tapes.
