Duran Duran’s second self-titled album quickly became known as “The Wedding Album” for its cover photos of group members’ parents tying the knot. A back-to-basics reinvention, the 1993 collection was recorded at guitarist Warren Cuccurullo’s home studio, a first for the U.K. quartet; as bassist John Taylor noted, “we didn’t have to keep looking at the clock. It gave us freedom to explore creatively.” While many in the music industry had written the band off, when “Ordinary World” leaked to radio stations in Florida, it was clear that the band was back. Both that song and follow-up “Come Undone” were Top 10 Billboard singles, and DURAN DURAN went Top 10 on the magazine’s album chart, eventually reaching Platinum sales status.
