Vancouver heavy metal band 3 Inches of Blood were signed by Roadrunner Records following an attention-getting tour opening for The Darkness; their final collection for the label was FIRE UP THE BLADES. Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison, a fan of the group since its first album, produced the 2007 set and co-wrote the songs, which include such fist-pumpers as “The Goatriders Horde,” “Night Marauders,” and “Infinite Legions.” “This album is heavily influenced by low-quality beer, bong rips and listening to black metal in the dark,” noted vocalist Jamie Hooper, though echoes of ’80s metal are here as well. If you enjoy the glory days of Judas Priest and Iron Maiden, be sure to fire up FIRE UP THE BLADES.
