Beaver & Krause

Paul Beaver and Bernie Krause were at the forefront of electronic music in the late 1960s, introducing the Moog synthesizer to musicians including The Monkees, Simon & Garfunkel and George Harrison. The duo also made a few albums of their own, perhaps most memorably 1971’s GANDHARVA. While the Warner Bros. collection features plenty of the spacey knob-twiddling you’d expect, it also has a contemplative, spiritual side – half of it was recorded in San Francisco's Grace Cathedral (with some superb pipe organ playing and guests including jazz saxophone great Gerry Mulligan). It’s a perfect album to experience in quadrophonic sound, and GANDHARVA has recently been released as a two-fer with 1972 follow-up ALL GOOD MEN as part of Rhino’s Quadio series.
