Flamin' Groovies

Since their origin in mid-1960s San Francisco, Flamin’ Groovies have been among the most respected (if underappreciated) bands in rock, blazing trails from proto-punk to power pop. That evolution is plain to hear on GROOVIES GREATEST GROOVES, an action-packed 1989 best-of compiled by Rolling Stone’s Michael Goldberg and fellow critic Michael Snyder. The Sire set’s two dozen tracks reveal a group well-steeped in music history (there’s a Beatles cover, but it’sa  deep cut “There’s A Place”) and with the songwriting skills to contribute to it. Among the originals penned by guiding lights Cyril Jordan, Roy Loney and Chris Wilson are such classics as “Shake Some Action,” “Slow Death,” “Teenage Head,” and “You Tore Me Down” - GROOVIES GREATEST GROOVES belongs in every home!
