Having gigged around L.A. for more than a decade, local roots music fans knew Los Lobos were a force to be reckoned with, but HOW WILL THE WOLF SURVIVE? announced that to the world. The quintet’s 1984 Slash debut has it all: memorable songwriting, virtuoso instrumental work and passionate singing across 11 tracks ranging from rock (“Don't Worry Baby”), R&B (“I Got Loaded”), Mexican (“Serenata Nortena”) and jangly alternative sounds (the title track).
