Disco spent more than a decade in the critical doghouse before the pop craftsmanship – and immense likability – of the genre's best music became undeniable. As producers/songwriters, Harry Wayne “KC” Casey and Richard Finch had tasted some success with George McCrae's “Rock Your Baby” before hitting it big with their own act a year later. Actually the group's second album, KC AND THE SUNSHINE BAND helped put disco on the map with a pair of No.1 singles: “Get Down Tonight” and “That’s The Way (I Like It).” There's plenty more to love among the nine originals on this 1975 set; if “Boogie Shoes” and “I Get Lifted” can't get you moving, check your pulse. The dancefloor anthems and propulsive funk that KC and the Sunshine Band serve up on their eponymous triple-Platinum set are the perfect kick-off to Rhino’s week-long salute to disco.
