Album of the Day
Mad Season
With the sound of mid-'90s alt-rock and the sensibility of arena rock from a couple of decades earlier, Matchbox Twenty became one of the most successful bands in America with YOURSELF OR SOMEONE LIKE YOU, which sold steadily for years to reach RIAA Diamond status. The band's 2000 follow-up, MAD SEASON, was an even more accomplished effort, featuring richer production, more varied instrumentation and a batch of outstanding songs including “Angry,” “Crutch,” “If You're Gone” and “Bent,” which went to No.1 on the U.S. singles chart. If not quite as omnipresent on mainstream radio as the group's debut, the album shows the band at their very best, and this Record Store Day, previously unreleased performances from the MAD SEASON tour will be available on a 2-LP colored vinyl set.
