Album of the Day
Made In Japan (Super Deluxe Edition)
On this day in 1972, Deep Purple took the stage in Japan for the first of three shows that would give rise to one of rock’s most celebrated concert sets, MADE IN JAPAN. Originally intended as a Japan-only release, this double live album became a surprise global phenomenon, going Platinum in America and several European countries. The British quintet's famed Mk II lineup of Ritchie Blackmore, Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Jon Lord and Ian Paice took classics like “Smoke On The Water,” “Highway Star,” and “Space Truckin’” and pushed them into overdrive. Now available as 5-CD/Blu-ray and 10-LP collections, MADE IN JAPAN (SUPER DELUXE EDITION) features new stereo and Dolby ATMOS mixes of the original by acclaimed producer Steven Wilson, all three concerts in their entirety and several rare single edits.
