Mystery to Me was the final Fleetwood Mac album recorded in England; with Martin Birch back behind the boards, the quintet cut the collection at their Hampshire communal home using the Rolling Stones Mobile Studio. Barring a cover of “For Your Love,” guitarist Bob Welch and keyboardist Christine McVie largely split the songwriting duties, with “Hypnotized,” “Why” and “Emerald Eyes” among the highlights - most of the 1973 set shows the band honing in on the hook-filled pop-rock that would soon make them superstars. Driven by the group’s namesake rhythm section (plus second guitarist Bob Weston, who departed soon after this), the Gold-certified Mystery to Me is sure to please any fan of the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers.
