Motörhead were radically different for their time; no one was doing music like them - nobody looked or dressed like them, either - and frontman Lemmy’s anti-establishment attitude was equally uncompromising. Originally completed in 1976, ON PAROLE was the first recorded material by the band but was held back by their label until 1979. The only album featuring the original quartet, the collection served as a bridge from rock to heavy metal and then to punk, its music purposefully loud, aggressive and unrelenting. Many of the set’s songs would become mainstays on record and live by later line-ups, with the song “Motörhead” making the U.K. Top 10 in 1981. Available next month, the 4-disc ON PAROLE SESSIONS contains a new remix by Steve Wilson, two CDs of outtakes, demo versions and instrumental jams and a Blu-ray of the original album in Atmos.
