One Day It Will Please Us To Remember Even This
Longtime fan Morrissey persuaded the New York Dolls to reunite for a performance in 2004 and it went well enough that the legendary band returned to the studio for ONE DAY IT WILL PLEASE US TO REMEMBER EVEN THIS. “It's a rock 'n' roll record, and not a lot of people make rock 'n' roll records today,” noted frontman David Johansen of the 2006 collection and it’s an apt description, with veteran producer Jack Douglas (Aerosmith, Cheap Trick) behind the boards to assist. Sylvain Sylvain’s riffage still frames Johansen’s brash vocals perfectly and the music crackles with the energy and street smarts of yore on such favorites as “Dance Like a Monkey” and “Gimme Luv and Turn on the Light,” which features a guest turn by Iggy Pop. The long out-of-print ONE DAY IT WILL PLEASE US TO REMEMBER EVEN THIS returns on Record Store Day as a limited-edition 2-LP clear vinyl set.
